20 years after the Carnage

This week marks the 20th anniversary of the frightful week for Sikhs in India. On 31'st Oct 1984, the then PM of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi was shot dead by 2 of her body guards. They belonged to the Sikh community and later mentioned that they did this act as a revenge for Operation Blue Star initiated by Mrs. Gandhi.
After this incident started what could be termed as Ethnic Cleansing. Congress workers raided all Sikh dominated areas in Delhi and burned, looted , raped and slaughtered the Sikhs. They marked houses where Sikhs stayed. This was done as the Govt of India gave them from the voters list. Over 4000 Sikhs were killed in the pogrom and the Central Govt. under Rajiv Gandhi, released the figure as 400 odd. Gurdwaras were also not spared as many homeless sought refuge there. This is Secularism Congress style.

I remember as kid being told to be beware of Sardarjis as they may be terrorist. Later on in life I have had interaction men and women from the Sikh community. They generally are pleasant, friendly and dedicated bunch of folks with no ill for anyone. This is the mind set that the Congressis wanted to create about Sikhs. So much so that they tarnished the image of Maneka Gandhi ( Indira Gandhi's estranged daughter - in -law) as she was from a Punjabi family.
